SHEF Recruiting For Health Careers Exploring Program
Southside Health Education Foundation (SHEF) is pleased to announce that it has received support from the Virginia Health Workforce Development Authority and the Bank of America to develop and implement a regional Healthcare Careers Exploring Program for students from 16 to 20 years of age who are interested in learning more about health careers. Exploring is a co-educational “best practices” program of the Boy Scouts of America of which SHEF’s program will be a charter.

Over the last five years, SHEF has awarded over $400,000 in scholarships to students seeking support for their nursing education. Individuals living, working or studying in the Tri-Cities area are eligible to apply for assistance. The scholarship application is available! Click here to learn more about SHEF's scholarship programs, guidelines and to access the application. This application must be completed and mailed - we are no longer accepting scholarship applications on line.

Supporting education through scholarships, SHEF is committed to growing the number of healthcare workers who live and work in Southside Virginia. Our service region includes the tri-cties of Petersburg, Hopewell and Colonial Heights and the counties of Dinwiddie, Prince George, Sussex and southeastern Chesterfield.
When residents from our region find great, well-paying jobs in our own backyard, they stay here, raise families here and build their lives here. Scholarship applications are accepted from individuals affiliated with the region as a resident, healthcare employee or student.
