Explorers Program

Our program for high school students is well underway.  With visits
so far to Richard Bland College, Health South, SRMC, and Virginia State University, the students are getting hands-on opportunities and valuable information on the many different paths available in the health care industry.  With so many students applying this year, we have split the program into a Fall session and a spring session.  Need more information, click here


One-Of-A-Kind Camp Experience

Health Careers Explorers Middle School Camp
June 20-24, 2016

A unique experience to rising 7th, 8th and 9th graders. This day camp will give participants real-life experiences in health care and higher education around the Tri-Cities.

The Southside Health Education Foundation is providing a one-of-a-kind camp that offers a unique health career exploration experience for rising 10th, 11th & 12th graders.  This week long, half day camp will give participants real-life experiences in health care and higher education around the Tri-Cities.

Dates: July 11-15, 2016   Time: 9am to noon   Cost: $110
Location: John Tyler Community College- Chester Campus

Participants: Rising 10th, 11th & 12th Graders
Preference given to students residing in: Colonial Heights, Dinwiddie County, Hopewell, Petersburg, Prince George County, Southern Chesterfield County and Sussex County.

There are a limited number of spaces available.  Complete this application to reserve your space!

Supporting education through scholarships, SHEF is committed to growing the number of healthcare workers who live and work in Southside Virginia. Our service region includes the tri-cties of Petersburg, Hopewell and Colonial Heights and the counties of Dinwiddie, Prince George, Sussex and southeastern Chesterfield. 

When residents from our region find great, well-paying jobs in our own backyard, they stay here, raise families here and build their lives here. Scholarship applications are accepted from individuals affiliated with the region as a resident, healthcare employee or student.
